What to Expect when working with with Josie On Film
35mm Film Stocks:
I carry and use multiple types of both Colour and Black & White film, as well as CineFilm. The style of tones and warmth/coolness, contrast, grain, etc. will vary depending on which film stock is chosen. My current portfolio seen on my main page is an accurate representation of what you can expect across all variations I use.
CineFilm is a specialty stock I have spent years mastering that can be used in both Outdoor and In Studio sessions - however this type of film requires more preparation, more time taken to line you up for the shot, and additional steps in the developing process.
We'll have a conversation early on about what I recommend depending on the location, time of day, and lighting style for your photoshoot. Each roll of 35mm film will have either 24 or 36 images, and I shoot between 2 - 6 rolls of film per session, depending on the package you booked. Some types of 35mm Film is best suited for Natural Daylight conditions, although I have also mastered being able to adapt it for Indoor and Studio use as well - so you're in good hands!
Sunset into Night-time and Studio sessions are best for the vibrant RGB lighting and neon glow effects I'm known for. Although if you want to shake things up and include things like using a smoke machine, or rock a direct 90's flash vibe - I'd absolutely love to help bring that vision to life.
Please be aware that 35mm Film is different from Digital Photography and the colour profile cannot be dramatically altered afterwards.
Consultation and Pricing:
Once you get in contact with me, we will chat via Email and arrange to meet either in person, via video call, or phone call to start the planning process about what your experience will look and feel like.
As every session is unique and completely customizable, I do not list exact pricing and packages on my sites. You can expect to invest a minimum of $4k - $10k with my client's average total investment being around $6k+
You will receive my Full Service and Pricing Guide upon consultation which goes into more details about the Photoshoot Session.
Booking Process:
Once we have a chat and begin the planning process, I will send you a Quote for your session and you'll also receive a Contract.
This Contract will contain important information such as - your booking date, what services are involved, a timeline, the type of 35mm Film included, the number of images you've decided to pre-purchase, or for specific packages the pre-set amount of images (additional images are available separately), payment plans, retainer fees, and so on!
After you sign the contract and send me your non-refundable retainer, you're officially booked in, yay!
Post Session & Editing:
After your session I get to work Developing the 35mm Film by hand and will keep you updated throughout the process. I often send little sneak peeks of the Film Developing itself, as well as the Scanning/Editing if you're the kind of person who loves to see little 'behind the scenes' content!
Timelines regarding this process and approximate final delivery are discussed privately and referenced in your Contract.
Approximately 150+ hours go into every single shoot as I meticulously Dust Remove any imperfections from the Negatives, as well as Scanning and Editing them before Final Proofing to get them ready for your final image Delivery. I can retouch on 35mm Film but I don't recommend it as it's extremely time intensive and difficult due to the nature of Film.
We then will meet either in person, or online via Zoom for your Reveal and Ordering Appointment where you'll be able to see the Entire Gallery and choose your final images, as well as order Prints, etc.
Physical products such as Prints will be ordered upon final payment, and you'll receive your Digital Files as well online once they have been delivered.
Travel Fees:
Travel fees are built into all my Session pricing and apply outside of a 100km total distance from my residence near Wallacia for all Photography Sessions.
These fees are are calculated based on a km/L ratio for my GQ Patrol, lovingly called 'Scorpion', and these are cross referenced with current average Diesel Prices.
Total Distance includes any/all travelling to and from Studio + Outdoor Locations for Photoshoots, and/or the Client's Private Residence and will incur non-refundable fees for fuel, plus an additional fee per hour of travelling outside the initial 1hr/100km total included in the base pricing.
Any additional kms travelled that aren't covered by Session Fees are recorded accurately via Odometer readings + GPS tracking and will be invoiced accordingly.
